Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has condemned the report of PUNCH newspaper which claimed that HIV drugs worth of a billion naira expired under his watch.

Adewole described the report as “Terribly misleading”, saying that “The N1bn worth of expired HIV drugs happened under a previous administration.”

The Minister wrote on his Tweeter page yesterday: “Disappointed by the third rate reporting by a respected newspaper. Fake health news does more damage than can be imagined.”

He added: “We know that this administration is gradually regaining trust of donors. This year, we will refund GAVI & Global Fund from monies looted by a previous administration.”

Adewole tasked health reporters to be more responsible and circumspect, saying that “it is too bad to put lives at risk for clicks.”
