Following the release of the 2017 Budget of the National Assembly, which was made public on Thursday, some Nigerians have taken to the Tweeter page of the Upper Chamber to express their delight at the development.

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, in her tweet to the Senate wall, commented thus: “Glad you finally succumbed to citizens’ call for ‘sunlight on your budget’.”

Also, Olanrewaju Gideon, one of those who tweeted at the Senate’s page, commended the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, saying: “This is a win for Nigeria and our democracy.”

The Senate has also said that it was the first time, since 1999, that the Bill and its details were being laid and made public to Nigerians.
