Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke
The Coroner’s Inquest put in place by the Osun State government has invited two siblings of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Dr. Deji Adeleke and Mrs Dupe Adeleke-Sanni.
The panel equally summoned the State Commissioner of Police, the Chief Medical Directors of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital and Biket Hospital, as well as the Executive Secretary of Ede South Local Government.
The panel, headed by Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, had begun sitting on Monday at the premises of the Osun State High Court in Osogbo, the state capital.
The letters summoning the aforementioned were dated May 8, 2017 and signed by the Coroner, Magistrate Ayilara.
According to the letters addressed to them individually, all those invited are expected to appear before the panel by 9:00am on Wednesday, May 10.
Meanwhile, a source close to the panel told Channels Television that more people would be invited within the three weeks of time frame given by the State government.
Senator Adeleke, the first civilian governor of Osun State and the lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, died on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
Earlier, his family, through Dr. Adeleke, said they would not participate nor be a party in the inquest and warned doctors not to tamper with the autopsy report which they insisted was yet to be made public.
The state government, however, maintained that the inquest was a standard practice in a civilised environment. (Channels TV)
