A Kano State High Court has remanded three defendants in a custodial facility over the alleged kidnapping and murder of a boy.
The defendants, Hajara Sani, Hayatullah Armayau and Jibin Ado, were arraigned on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and culpable homicide.
The prosecution counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soran Dinki, alongside Barrister Iliyasu Ibrahim, presented the defendants before the court.
They all pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them.
The court ordered their remand and adjourned the case until December 4, 2026, for the commencement of the hearing of witnesses.
The prosecution alleged that Hajara Sani, who worked in the deceased’s family home, abducted Aliyu Haidar and took him to Hayatullah and Jibin, who allegedly conspired to demand a ransom of N2 million.
However, when the ransom was not paid, the defendants allegedly killed the boy.
The incident reportedly occurred in Gobirawa village in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State. (Daily Trust)
