2015: Aso Rock intensifies prayer for second term for President Jonathan

The strongest hint yet that President Goodluck Jonathan will seek re-election in 2015 has emerged in the form of a prayer request.

Jonathan’s undeclared ambition has contributed in heating up the polity and was one of the issues raised by former president Olusegun Obasanjo in his recent hard-hitting 18-page open letter in which he demanded that Jonathan should keep his promise to do only one term.

Even though the Nigerian leader has not publicly declared that he will seek re-election, his ambition is well known to people in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Indeed, worshippers at the Aso Rock Chapel have been requested to intensify prayers for Jonathan, who would have ruled Nigeria for six years by May 2015, to succeed in his re-election quest.

In the Aso Rock Chapel “Prayer Guide” for this month of December 2013, worshippers are urged to “pray that the crises rocking the ruling party, the PDP will not mar the party’s chances of victory in the 2015 general elections to enable the present administration to continue the transformation agenda – Zechariah 4: 9.”

Zechariah 4: 9 reads thus in the New International Version: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.”

The meaning in the present circumstance: God should cause Jonathan to be returned in 2015 so that his administration may continue with and finish its transformation agenda.
