Former Adamawa State Governor Jibrilla Bindow has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bindow formally re-registered as a member of the APC at his ward in Mubi, Adamawa State, on Sunday, ending his three-year absence from the ruling party.

The former governor resigned from the APC in January 2023 after losing the party’s governorship ticket.

Bindow said his decision to return followed extensive consultations with political associates and confidants.

He said he had always respected party discipline and avoided actions that could be interpreted as anti-party activities.

According to him, he also consulted Vice-President Kashim Shettima, whom he described as a brother and confidant.

Bindow also recalled his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “pleasant and memorable”.

He pledged to support APC candidates in Adamawa and work towards the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

The former governor said his return was not motivated by personal ambition or political division but by a desire to strengthen the APC and contribute to its electoral success.

“I am back to the APC not to divide, but to contribute; not to fight, but to build; and above all, to work with the party and its candidates toward victory,” he said.

Bindow had previously expressed interest in contesting the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but withdrew from the race in May. (AriseNews)
