He made the statement while addressing journalists at Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, after registering as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his ward.
Nwoye, who is gunning to take over the mantle of leadership of Anambra from the incumbent Governor Obiano, said that the 2017 governorship election would be different as the people had learnt their lessons in the hands of APGA led government in the state.
He said: “Before now, APGA had been using the name of the late Biafran warlord, Ojukwu to deceive the people of Anambra during elections that the trick would not work again for the party in the state.
“APC is not like People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where everybody is confused, but this party is a focused one and well disciplined.
“If anybody tells you that there is problem in APC, tell them it is not true and the influx of politician to the party will not bring such either because the more the merrier.
“We want to bring change in Anambra to stop the (APGA) led government from the impunity being perpetrated on the local government allocations, APGA government has really siphoned council funds.”
The lawmaker accused the APGA government of not putting a single project in Nsugbe and neigbouring communities and questioned the claim of the government of massive infrastructural development.
Nwoye, however, told Ndigbo to exercise patience with the APC led Federal Government, adding that some of the projects in Igbo land like the Second Niger Bridge, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Anambra East-Kogi federal road had all been captured in the 2017 budget and soon the people would begin to smile.
He also expressed joy that Ibo people had embraced APC not only in Anambra state but the entire South East, saying that the party has come to give the country a human face.
On the rumor of his interest in running for the governorship seat in November, Nwoye said “yes, I’m running.”
He therefore debunked the claim from certain quarters that the new APC executive in the state would be dissolved, adding that such idea would be suicidal for the party, noting that he would be the first to challenge any person with such idea.
Reacting to Nwoye’s statement, the state chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi challenged the former chairman of the PDP in the state to show evidence of his claim.
Obi said that Chief Willie Obiano’s administration had shown prudence in managing resources in the state, adding that his achievement within the short time was enough evidence.
