In a congratulatory message delivered after the final, the FIFA president praised the Nigerian team for their performance, saying their victory was well deserved.
“Congratulations to Nigeria, world champions of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup here in Rabat. First African team ever to win a Women’s Under-17 World Cup. So many congratulations to Nigeria, well deserved in the final,” Infantino said.
He also congratulated Japan for finishing as runners-up and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPR Korea) for securing the bronze medal.
“Congratulations to Japan as well, great silver medal. And DPR Korea, bronze medal at this beautiful Women’s Under-17 World Cup,” he added.
Infantino extended his commendation to Morocco for hosting the tournament, describing the competition and its facilities in Rabat as beautiful, fantastic and wonderful.
