The daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu has asked the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to take down its post announcing her father’s death.

Chiamaka, popularly known as Chiamax, appealed in an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, hours after news of the actor’s death emerged.

She insisted that she should be the one to announce her father’s passing, not the guild.

“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.

In the video, Chiamaka asked the AGN and members of the public not to post her father’s picture or poster, and not to call her.

“Please, Actors Guild, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy. Please don’t post my papa. This is a very hard video for me to make. Nobody should call me, nobody should post my daddy’s poster,” she said tearfully.

“I’m still wearing my daddy’s shirt. Take that post down, please. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death. I don’t want you guys to do that for me.”

Ikpechukwu reportedly died on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

AGN National President Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu announced his death on Friday and paid tribute to the actor in a social media post. (The Nation)
