Troops on duty
Troops of Operation UDO KA have arrested a woman suspected of collaborating with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 3:50 p.m. on November 2, 2026, by troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Orsu in Ukwunu Community.
The sources said the woman was arrested alongside her son after reporting to troops at a health centre in Orsu, claiming that an improvised explosive device (IED) had exploded at her residence.
However, local vigilantes reportedly identified her as a suspected IPOB/ESN collaborator and provided information alleging her involvement with the group.
Further information provided by the vigilantes allegedly indicated that the woman had abandoned her matrimonial home and taken her son to reside with IPOB/ESN members in the bush.
She was also alleged to have been declared wanted by the Ihiteukwa Community vigilantes and to have provided cooking services for notorious terrorist commanders, now deceased, at their hideout.
The suspect and her son are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The allegations against the woman have not been independently established, and the circumstances surrounding the reported IED explosion are being investigated. (Zagazola, but headline rejigged)
