The apprehended officers
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered the arrest of four police officers following the circulation of a viral video showing the officers allegedly brutalising a civilian for wearing camouflage in the Ijagba-Ota area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Sunday.
Ojajuni, who ordered a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, reiterated the command’s commitment to professional discipline, accountability and respect for the rights of citizens.
He assured members of the public that the matter was receiving the necessary attention and that any officer found to have engaged in misconduct would be dealt with in accordance with established regulations.
The police commissioner stressed that the command would not compromise its professional standards, adding that the investigation would be guided by available evidence and due process.
The command appreciated members of the public for drawing its attention to the video and urged anyone with credible, first-hand information that could assist the investigation to cooperate with the appropriate authorities.
It also cautioned against speculation and the circulation of unverified claims capable of prejudicing the investigation.
The command said an investigation had commenced into the incident, adding that disciplinary procedures had been initiated to establish the facts surrounding the video and determine appropriate action against those found culpable. (Nigerian Tribune)
