Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has heaped praise on Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, highlighting his goal-scoring record and lethal one-on-one ability following a decisive performance in the UEFA Champions League.

Lookman sealed a vital 2-0 victory for Atlético Madrid against Manchester United on Tuesday night at the Estadio Metropolitano, calmly tapping home a rebound to secure the three points.

Speaking during his post-match press conference, the Argentine tactician lauded Lookman’s impact while noting that the forward continues to build consistency as he approaches his peak.

“He’s a very important player. He has very good stats, he scores goals, and he’s good in one-on-one situations,” Simeone said in his post-match conference as per African Football. “He is still refining that consistency, but he has rediscovered his scoring touch. He showed great instinct to follow up the play, and the rebound worked in his favour. We got a win we needed.”

The victory provides Atlético Madrid with a crucial boost in their European campaign, with Lookman once again proving to be the difference-maker on the big stage. (The Nation)
