Swansea City football winger Eom Ji-sung on Tuesday was allegedly subjected to racist abuse during his side's 1-0 away win over Millwall in the English Championship.
The 24-year-old South Korean was warming up near the touchline when referee Edward Duckworth halted the match for around seven minutes to discuss the incident with coaching staff from both teams.
A stadium announcement at The Den said racist chanting had been reported and that police were reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible.
"During the second half of this evening’s Championship fixture at Millwall, Swansea City reported an alleged incident of racist abuse aimed at Jisung Eom," Swansea said in a statement after the match.
The club condemned racism and discrimination, saying there is no place for such behavior in football or society.
Swansea also thanked match officials, Millwall, and police for their swift response, pledging to cooperate with the investigation.
Millwall acknowledged an "alleged, individual incident of discriminatory abuse" directed at a Swansea player during the second half.
"The club operates a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discriminatory abuse," Millwall said, adding that it is cooperating with an ongoing police investigation. (AA)
