Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin
By OLUWASEYI ODUNEYE -OGUNWOMOJU
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, on Tuesday described the death of a serving corps member, Oluwatosin Abidakun, as devastating.
Ogundoyin, in a statement issued in Ibadan, said Abidakun’s death was also heart-breaking given that she had only just begun her national service with hopes and aspirations for the future.
The statement revealed that the deceased had recently resumed her primary assignment at the state assembly and was on her way home when she was involved in an accident on Monday.
She was said to be on a commercial motorcycle with another corps member when an articulated truck rammed into them around Agodi Gardens, behind the Oyo State Government Secretariat.
While Abidakun died in the crash, her fellow corps member sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital.
Ogundoyin lamented that the life of a promising young Nigerian had been cut short in such tragic circumstances.
According to him, the incident is a loss not only to her family and friends but also to the Oyo State House of Assembly, where she had recently commenced her service year.
He, however, extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and fellow corps members of the deceased.
He prayed that the Almighty God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Ogundoyin also expressed concern over the surviving corps member’s condition, praying for a speedy and complete recovery. (NAN)
