PVCs
By BONIFACE AKARAH
The Peter Obi Media Office has urged Nigerians to reject attempts to induce voters with money or other benefits in exchange for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) or votes as the country counts down to the 2027 general election.
In a statement dated October 8, 2026, and signed by Idris Zekeri Jnr, POMR Spokesman, the media office said there were exactly 100 days to election day and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against schemes it alleged were aimed at compromising the electoral process.
According to the Peter Obi Media Office, POMR, the ruling party was allegedly seeking to exploit poverty by offering large sums of money to Nigerians in exchange for their PVCs.
The media office also alleged that reports from some states indicated that some governors were collecting the PVCs of citizens, including civil servants, in exchange for payment of legitimate salaries and allowances.
“Your PVC is not for sale. Your vote is not for sale. Your future is not for sale,” POMR said.
It urged Nigerians to collect their PVCs, keep them secure and refuse any offer involving the surrender of their voter cards or votes.
“Reject bribes and report any suspected electoral manipulation to the proper authorities,” the statement added.
POMR also urged voters to turn out on election day, vote according to their conscience and protect their ballots.
“On election day, turn out, vote according to your conscience, protect your ballot, and insist that your vote counts,” the media office said.
It further called on Nigerians to hold their PVCs firmly, use them responsibly and defend their votes through lawful means.
The statement concluded with an appeal to Nigerians to defend democracy and work towards what POMR described as a “new Nigeria that will be possible and OK.”
