Four communities are left in the race for the grand prize as The Lagos Community Games enters its tenth day tomorrow. Remaining to battle for the star prize are Bariga, Kosofe, Ajegunle and Agege communities.
They will do battle in the three games of football, draught and table tennis featuring in the competition powered by Olympic Milk from the stable of Nutricima Limited to foster the spirit of community through sports.
Communities that could not go beyond the preliminaries are Surulere, Ikorodu, Obalende, Orile Iganmu, Ketu and Mushin.
Sadness and joy were the conflicting emotions in the camp of Team Surulere on Day 9 of the Games powered as their male team flunked out of the football competition despite a draw with Team Ikorodu while their female team moved on in table tennis.
The contest is becoming more intense as the competition races towards a climax on Sunday, September 23.
The Teachers Training College, Ifako Agege, was the venue as Ikorodu and Surulere boys battled to a 1-1 draw in football. With the draw, Surulere earned a disqualification on points due to their earlier performances.
The journey of the victorious Team Ikorodu however ended shortly after as they played a goalless draw in their match with Team Ketu. They then crashed out of the football competition.
