Amazon.com announced on Wednesday that it will increase the minimum hourly pay for eligible full-time workers in its US operations workforce by $1 to $20.
The company is also introducing a new employee benefit, “Day 1 Financial”, which will provide eligible workers and their families with lifetime access to low-cost banking services through First Tech Federal Credit Union.
Amazon said the changes build on benefits already available to its employees, including healthcare coverage costing as little as $5 a week, complimentary Prime memberships and prepaid education programmes.
The e-commerce and cloud services giant said eligible full-time employees in core operations roles will receive average total compensation of more than $32 per hour when the value of their benefits package is included.
Amazon said the pay increase and new financial benefit are part of its broader efforts to strengthen compensation and expand the benefits available to its US operations workforce. (AriseNews TV)
