Anambra, has emerged the winner of the Face of Eastwing Competition, organised by the Eastwing Aviation Institute, Enugu. Uyammadu was declared winner during the grand finale of the competition, organised through its youth foundation on Monday in Enugu. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victory earned him a four-month Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme training with a reputable aviation company. NAN also recalls that Uyammadu won the 2025 edition of the competition after defeating 50 other youths at the inaugural South-East Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC). The victory then earned him a full scholarship from the Eastwing Aviation Institute to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). Speaking at the event, Mr Christian Agadibe, the Executive Director of Eastwing Youth Foundation and Convener of SASEYC, said Uyammadu’s progress demonstrated the practical impact of the scholarship programme. Agadibe said the institute had funded Uyammadu’s training through the AME programme, while efforts were on to secure sponsorship for other finalists. “The school has funded the winner to the final stage of his AME. “We are still soliciting support for the top 10 because we believe these young people also deserve the opportunity to build careers in aviation,” he said. According to him, Uyammadu’s progress is an indication that the youth-focused initiative is achieving its objective of creating access to aviation training for young people, who may otherwise struggle to afford it. He said the ongoing second edition of the competition had also produced another group of young people, who would require support beyond the competition. “The youths of the Southeast are eager to learn. They have set aside their distractions and are ready to learn. “This has become a platform that encourages them to take their studies and development seriously,” Agadibe said. He also said the 2026 edition of SASEYC was progressing, with the current top 10 finalists undergoing further training ahead of the summit scheduled for October 3 in Enugu. He expressed the confidence that another winner would emerge at the summit. Agadibe, therefore, appealed to philanthropists, individuals, organisations and other potential sponsors to support the finalists, particularly the top 10, to enable more young people to receive aviation training and practical industry experience. The organisers said the goal was to create a pathway through which young people could acquire the skills and experience required to build careers in Nigeria’s aviation industry. Speaking on his experience, Uyammadu said the scholarship had brought him closer to the aviation career he had always wanted and dreamt of. “The scholarship has given me the opportunity to pursue my dream in aviation and gain the practical experience I need for my career. “Starting my IT on aviation has made the journey even more real, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn directly within the industry,” he said.
