Some of the Chibok girls as shown in a recent Boko Haram video
There were reports on Thursday evening that another set of 21 of the Chibok girls kidnapped on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram terrorists have regained their freedom.
A 7pm network news broadcast by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) said the girls were brought to Yola International Airport in the Adamawa State capital around 3pm on Thursday.
The report did not provide further details but indicated that the girls are on their way to Abuja, the Nigerian capital, to be presented to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Presidency, however, later explained that that the girls sighted in Yola were the ones rescued in October, adding that more Chibok schoolgirls have not been rescued from their captors.
Writing on his Facebook page, Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, disclosed that the 21 rescued Chibok schoolgirls are to enjoy Christmas and New Year festivities with their parents.
He said already the Department of State Security (DSS) had taken the liberated girls to their respective families.
