The Ebonyi State Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced Monday, September 7, 2026, as the official resumption date for the commencement of academic activities for the 2026/2027 academic session across the state.
The announcement was contained in a press statement issued over the weekend by the State Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary), Dr. Donatus Ilang.
According to the official release, the resumption mandate applies to all approved public, private, and faith-based nursery, primary, and secondary schools across all 13 Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State.
School administrators, teachers, and non-teaching staff are expected to report to their respective duties on Monday, September 7.
Boarding students are scheduled to return to their hostels on Sunday, September 6, 2026, to allow for adequate preparation.
Parents and guardians are urged to ensure their children and wards resume promptly and are appropriately outfitted according to official school standards.
Proprietors of private institutions must strictly align operations with the approved State School Calendar, national curriculum, and operational guidelines set by the Ministry.
Comprehensive monitoring teams from the Ministry will deploy across the state starting on day one of resumption to enforce total compliance with government directives.
Dr. Ilang reiterated that the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru remains steadfast in its dedication to elevating educational standards in Ebonyi State, driven by the core tenets of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
The Ministry appeals to all stakeholders, educators, and community leaders for maximum cooperation to ensure a seamless and productive start to the new school term. (Channels)
