GM, Lagos State Building Control Agency LASBCA, Gbaye Florence
The Lagos State Government has confirmed Bldr. Florence Omolola Gbaye as the substantive General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), placing her at the helm of the agency responsible for enforcing building regulations and safety standards across the state.
The appointment, approved by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, took effect on August 19, 2026, following Gbaye’s successful tenure as Acting General Manager.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, formally presented her appointment letter on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.
Gbaye, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB) and a registered builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), brings more than 22 years of professional experience to the position.
Her experience spans construction management, project coordination, building regulation and compliance, placing her in a strong position to lead LASBCA at a time when building safety and regulatory compliance remain critical to the state’s urban development.
As Acting General Manager, Gbaye demonstrated leadership and professionalism in advancing the agency’s mandate, particularly in ensuring compliance with building codes and minimum safety standards.
She also played a role in promoting the safety, structural integrity and habitability of buildings across Lagos State.
With her confirmation as substantive General Manager, expectations are high that she will build on the gains recorded during her acting tenure and further strengthen regulatory compliance in the building sector.
Her appointment is also expected to support the state government’s broader efforts to promote safe, sustainable and orderly urban development across Lagos.
Speaking during the presentation of the appointment letter, Agoro expressed confidence in Gbaye’s competence and capacity to deliver effectively in her new role.
He urged her to remain dedicated, diligent and selfless in the discharge of her responsibilities, stressing the need for purposeful leadership and strict adherence to professional standards.
The Head of Service said the appointment demonstrated the confidence reposed in Gbaye by Governor Sanwo-Olu, charging her to justify the trust through effective leadership and efficient delivery of LASBCA’s mandate.
This version gives it a stronger news lead, reduces the bureaucratic feel and makes Gbaye’s experience and the significance of the appointment more prominent. (The Guardian)
