A 16 years old boy, Udochukwu Nwankwo has been nabbed by the operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to “B” Division over involvement in armed robbery.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the boy was arrested with a silver metal fabricated on the shape of a pistol, which is suspected to be used for carrying out armed robbery operations.

He said the arrest was made at Amansea in Awka North Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Tuesday 2nd September 2026, during a security patrol.

The statement partly reads: “The operatives also recovered a shiny metallic lighter designed in the semblance of a pistol, which the suspect allegedly used to threaten and dispossess the victim of her valuables.

“Preliminary information revealed that the suspect, alongside two other accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked a guest at a hotel in the area and snatched her mobile phone and other personal belongings.

“During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to using the recovered object to threaten victims during the robbery.”

The Police spokesman further noted that the command has intensified investigation and ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that the stolen phone and other valuables have been recovered.
