Gov Alia
The Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Tersoo Kula, has called for calm and thoughtful engagement following the Federal Government’s proposal to establish pilot ranches in some states, including Benue.
Kula said Governor Hyacinth Alia remains committed to protecting the interests of Benue State and its people, stressing that the Governor’s mandate is derived from the people and that every Benue citizen remains an important stakeholder in the development of the state.
According to him, the governor has not taken any position that is against the interest of Benue State, but is carefully engaging relevant stakeholders and authorities to fully understand the proposal and its implications for the state.
He urged the people of Benue to exercise restraint and avoid prematurely politicising the matter or resorting to protests and public agitation before the government concludes its consultations.
The Chief Press Secretary noted that leadership sometimes requires patience, consultation and strategic thinking, rather than immediate public pronouncements on every emerging issue.
He assured the people that Governor Alia would approach the ranching proposal with the best interests of Benue as his foremost consideration and would take a decision that protects the security, welfare and long-term interests of the people.
Kula therefore appealed to Benue citizens to remain calm and allow the government the necessary space to engage, assess the proposal and determine the most appropriate course of action for the state. (The Nation)
