The Nigerian Ambassador to Hungary, Ambassador Abass Ogwime Braimah, on Friday, August 14, 2026 held an important engagement with members of the Nigerian professional and business community in Budapest, Hungary.
The delegation was led by Dr. John Sessi, a PhD holder in Chemical Engineering with over 42 years of professional experience and a respected leader among Nigerian professionals in Hungary.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Ambassador to interact with Nigerians who have built successful professional careers abroad and who remain committed to contributing their wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to the development of Nigeria.
A major highlight of the meeting was Ambassador Braimah’s reunion with Dr. Olu Owolabi, who taught him Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics at the University of Benin in 1985. The reunion brought a memorable personal dimension to the engagement and highlighted the strong professional and academic connections that continue to shape the Nigerian community.
The Nigerian professionals expressed their appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Ambassador Abass Braimah to represent Nigeria in Hungary. They particularly commended the recognition given to the Nigerian professional community and the importance attached to Nigerians who have acquired between 25 and 30 years, and in some cases over four decades, of professional experience abroad.
They noted that many of these professionals possess valuable expertise which can be harnessed to support Nigeria’s economic growth, industrial development, technology, education and other critical sectors.
The professionals described the engagement as a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between the Nigerian diplomatic mission and Nigerians living and working in Hungary. They also expressed optimism that the initiative would create more opportunities for experienced Nigerians in the diaspora to share their knowledge and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The meeting underscored the commitment of the Ambassador to ensuring that the Nigerian Embassy in Hungary remains connected to its citizens and to building a stronger bridge between Nigeria and its professional community in the diaspora.
The engagement marks an important moment in the renewed effort to recognise, mobilise and utilise the vast human capital of Nigerians abroad in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
