Four suspects are currently in the custody of Anambra Police Command have over an alleged plot to kill a landowner in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, and unlawfully take over his landed properties.
The suspects include, 38-year-old Obiora Nwankwo, Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37
A statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspects were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi following intelligence-led operations by security operatives.
He listed weapons recovered from the suspects to include, two firearms and live ammunition.
The statement reads in part: “The Anambra State Police Command uncovered the alleged plot to murder the citizen and unlawfully take over his landed properties following strategic intelligence efforts initiated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.
“The breakthrough was recorded on the evening of August 12, 2026, when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, acted on credible intelligence and swiftly moved to disrupt the alleged criminal operation.
“During the operation, two firearms and live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.”
He added that the Command was conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other individuals who may be connected to the plot, and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each of the arrested suspects.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be made to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of investigations, the police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, said the successful operation demonstrates the importance of the Command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy, which is aimed at detecting criminal threats at an early stage, disrupting planned attacks, and preventing the loss of lives and property.
The Commissioner further reiterated the Command’s commitment to strengthening intelligence gathering and proactive policing across the state to prevent violent crimes and protect residents and their property.
