Nigeria and Africas riches man, Dangote
Nigeria has seen the emergence of 900 new million-dollar millionaires within a period of 12 months, according to latest reports.
One of the reports published by BusinessDay Nigeria earlier today, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, attributed the development to “a stronger naira and new business growth” which it said “helped reverse some of the wealth losses caused by the currency’s sharp depreciation over the past two years.”
Nigeria is home to approximately 8,100 US dollar millionaires (individuals with $1 million or more in liquid investable wealth) as of mid-2026. This reflects a recent addition of 900 new millionaires over a 12-month period due to a stabilizing naira and business growth, reversing prior multi-year declines. The country ranks fourth in Africa for private wealth.
According to Wikipedia, Nigeria has around 20 individuals with wealth of $100 million or more, four major ultra-high-net-worth individuals led by Aliko Dangote and occupies the fourth position in Africa’s wealth list, trailing South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco.
