The 176 residents of Woro, who were rescued from kidnappers in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, are currently in Niger State undergoing security and medical checks ahead of their return home.

The victims, who were rescued following a coordinated operation by security agencies, are said to be undergoing health assessments, security screening and other administrative procedures before being handed over to the Kwara State Government.

An indigene of Kaiama, who spoke with our correspondent, said the victims were taken to Wawa Barracks in Niger State for medical examination.

“I learnt they took them to Wawa Barracks for medical examination,” the source said.

The victims are expected to return to Kwara State on Friday, subject to the completion of the ongoing procedures.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is also expected to receive the rescued victims upon their arrival in the state.

The development has been greeted with relief and widespread commendation, particularly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies involved in the rescue operation.

The rescue brings renewed hope to families and residents of Woro, who had endured days of uncertainty following the abduction.

The coordinated efforts that led to the recovery of the victims have also been praised by stakeholders, who urged security agencies to sustain the momentum and intensify efforts to prevent further attacks and abductions in the area. (The Nation)
