Gov Adeleke and Davido
David Adedeji, an Afrobeat star popularly known as Davido, has declared that no amount of political intimidation, which he described as political rascality, would prevent Governor Ademola Adeleke from securing re-election in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The Afrobeat star, who is the Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council, expressed confidence that the electorate would return his nephew, the incumbent, for a second term.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Imole Youth Canvassers in Osogbo Federal Constituency on Tuesday at Adeleke’s campaign office, he charged the youths to mobilise new and reluctant voters to vote for Adeleke because of the massive infrastructure he has embarked on throughout the state.
Davido, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Kayode Olododo, said, “Let us be courageous, not minding the current political rascality by some bad losers. Our message is clear to the people of Osun State.
“We need to tell the people what Adeleke has done in the little time he has been in office. Osogbo Federal Constituency has benefited from this administration in infrastructure and other areas.
“The youths are better represented in his government than in the previous administration. You are youth and useful; that is why I am urging you not to fight anyone but to win the hearts of voters who have not decided who to vote for.”
He urged the newly inaugurated mobilisers to take the campaign to the grassroots, engage young voters and ensure that the achievements of the Adeleke administration are effectively communicated to the electorate.
Earlier, the Director of Operations of the Campaign Council, Dr Musthofa Adebayo, highlighted the roles of the canvassers, saying, “We are the engine room of this campaign. We are the force that will carry the Imole message to every doorstep and ensure no vote is left behind.”
He added that “The Osogbo Federal Constituency youths are ready to deliver victory for Imole to continue good governance in unity and prosperity of our dear state.” (The Nation)
