The convoy of Dr Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), was attacked by suspected hoodlums in Ede South Local Government Area on Sunday evening.

The Nation gathered that Dr Oyebamiji had visited Alajue Ward 2 to mobilise and educate voters ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 7 p.m. after she concluded the engagement alongside Princess Bukola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate, Kayode Adereti.

According to sources, about 15 armed hoodlums attacked the convoy as it was leaving the venue.

The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Sekona Branch, was said to have sustained severe head injuries during the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Salami, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice.

Salami said the incident occurred around Alajue and Sekona Garage as Dr Oyebamiji and Princess Adereti were returning from a political programme in Alajue, Ede.

He alleged that the attackers were loyalists of the Accord Party.

He urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and prosecute anyone found culpable in accordance with the law.
