In an earlier match, Team Ikorodu pipped Obalende 1-0 in the football tournament that has been the focal point of the Games.

It has been one week of intense competition among 10 communities in Lagos with the football and draught matches drawing sizeable crowds and interest.

The ten competing teams would play their last group matches in the first two days of the week to determine who moves on to the knockout stages of the competition.

Coach Akande Samuel of the winning Team Mushin was very exultant, as Team Mushin had lost its previous matches 2-3 against Team Ajegunle and 0-1 to Team Agege.

Mushin next faces Oshodi and the coach is positive his team would defeat their Oshodi opponents. His optimism stems from their drubbing of Oshodi earlier Sunday in the J-League contest amongst local governments in Lagos. Akande stated: “If we should win our last match, I think there is probability of our moving forward.”

The coach thanked Nutricima Limited for the Community Games initiative, noting: “If we had this kind of tournaments before now, our players would have been exposed and discovered.”

Matches continue on tomorrow at Jubril Martins School Iponri.
