Kano State Gov Abba Yusuf
The Kano State Government has directed civil servants who received duplicate salary payments for July 2026 to refund the excess amount into a designated account.
In a circular dated July 27, 2026, from the Office of the Accountant General, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, the government explained that the concerned bank was unable to reverse the double payments made into affected accounts.
The letter, dated July 27, which was signed by Abdulhadi Hamza, Deputy Director KIPPIS on behalf of the Accountant General, instructed all affected staff to promptly refund the excess funds into the Kano State E-Salary Account at United Bank for Africa (UBA).
Workers are further required to submit evidence of payment to the Treasury House at No. 23 Commissioner Road, Kano, for verification and issuance of an official Treasury Receipt.
The Accountant General’s office emphasised the urgency of compliance, stressing that the directive was aimed at upholding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of public funds.
The circular follows an earlier notice issued on July 26, 2026, which acknowledged the duplication error and assured staff that measures were being taken to recover the funds. (Daily Trust)
