CLO chieftain, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme
•Calls on Nigerians to emulate his politics of service, morality and prudence
The Anambra State Chairman of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, AMBP-UN, has extended heartfelt felicitations to the former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, on the occasion of his 65th birthday today, Sunday, July 19, 2026.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Awka, Comrade Ezekwueme described Mr. Obi as “an unusual and rare gift to humanity whose life and leadership have redefined the meaning of public service in Nigeria.”
According to him, “At 65, Mr. Peter Obi stands tall as a beacon of hope, a symbol of integrity, and a testament that politics can indeed be played with conscience, character and compassion. His life trajectory reflects patriotism without noise, leadership without arrogance, and service without self-interest.”
The CLO chieftain noted that Obi’s hallmark virtues — humility, selflessness, empathy, contentment, and legendary financial prudence — remain unequaled and have earned him admiration across party lines, ethnic divides, and generational lines.
“It is an existential reality and irrefutable truth that His Excellency plays politics of morality, equity, competence, character and capability. He has consistently demonstrated that governance is about the people, not about self-aggrandizement,” Ezekwueme stated.
“He has been deeply engraved in the hearts and minds of millions of Nigerians through his unwavering commitment to the politics of transformation, reformation, production, and his fanatical dedication to the welfare and wellbeing of the common citizen.”
Comrade Ezekwueme further dismissed the cynical assertion by a renowned English poet and author that “one cannot be active in politics and still be honest and transparent.” He said Mr. Obi has proven that assertion wrong through decades of public conduct marked by accountability, transparency, and the fear of God.
“The greatest birthday gift Nigerians can give to Mr. Peter Obi is not lavish parties or expensive gifts, but to emulate his political philosophy and ideology. We must begin to ask ‘what can I do for Nigeria and Nigerians’ rather than ‘what can Nigeria do for me.’ We must embrace politics of morality, meritocracy, and equality,” he emphasized.
While celebrating the milestone, the Human Rights Activist offered prayers for continued divine blessings upon the celebrant.
“I pray to Almighty God to grant His Excellency more wisdom, grace, divine protection, robust good health, and to fulfill the desires of his heart in the years ahead, far beyond his highest hopes and expectations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Comrade Ezekwueme also used the opportunity to make a passionate appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently provide adequate and comprehensive security for top political leaders, especially Presidential Candidates of all political parties, in light of the prevailing security challenges threatening democracy and peaceful political engagement in the country.
“Leadership in a democracy should not be a death sentence. We must protect those who offer themselves for service so that ideas, not violence, will determine the future of our nation,” he concluded.
“On behalf of my family and CLO Anambra State Branch, Happy 65th Birthday, Your Excellency, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi. Nigeria celebrates you.”
