Grammy-winning singer Tems
Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has explained why she does not consider Nigerian male celebrities as potential romantic partners.
Tems made the revelation while speaking at the BET Awards ceremony over the weekend after she was asked whether she would make a move on Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye if given the opportunity.
Responding to the question, the “Love Me Jeje” crooner said the fact that both of them are Nigerians makes it difficult for her to see him in a romantic way.
According to Tems, she is not interested in dating fellow Nigerian celebrities because she regards them as family rather than romantic interests.
She said, “I know who Maduka Okoye is but I don’t know him personally. I wish I did though. But shooting shots at him, we don’t do that over here.
“We [Nigerian celebrities] are friends with each others and we are family. I see my male colleagues as brothers.”
Tems has largely kept her personal life away from the public, choosing instead to focus on her music career, which has earned her local and international recognition. (Nigerian Tribune)
