President Federation Cup
By IJEOMA OKIGBO
Four of Nigeria’s top women’s football teams will on Wednesday battle for places in the final of the 2026 President Federation Cup as the competition reaches the semi-final stage.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the two semi-final matches will be played simultaneously in Benin City and Enugu, with kick-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Lagos-based FC Robo Queens will face Heartland Queens of Owerri in what promises to be a keenly contested encounter.
FC Robo Queens head into the fixture with confidence after eliminating former champions Rivers Angels in the quarter-finals, a result widely regarded as one of the biggest upsets of the competition.
The Lagos side had earlier defeated Rangers women of Enugu and Remo Stars Ladies on their way to the last four.
Heartland Queens, however, have also impressed in the tournament, overcoming Dragon Fury Ladies, Ahudiyannem Queens and Ibom Angels to secure a semi-final berth.
In the other semi-final at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Sunshine Queens of Akure will take on experienced campaigners Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.
Nasarawa Amazons, one of the most consistent teams in Nigerian women’s football, reached the semi-finals after victories over Osklean FC and hard-fought penalty shootout wins against Naija Ratels FC and Edo Queens.
Sunshine Queens have enjoyed a remarkable run in the competition, defeating Solo Wonders in the Round of 32, Plateau United Queens in the Round of 16 and Confluence Queens in the quarter-finals.
The winners of both semi-final matches will advance to the final scheduled for July 11 in Asaba, where they will compete for this year’s President Federation Cup title.
Semi-final Fixtures (June 24):
FC Robo Queens vs Heartland Queens – Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City (4 p.m.)
Sunshine Queens vs Nasarawa Amazons – Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu (4 p.m.)
