As aviation and security authorities intensify their probe into the circumstances surrounding the landing of a Bombardier Challenger 600 on the roadway in Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State, fresh facts have emerged that the aircraft carries a fraction ownership.
Checks by The Nation on planespotters.com, the database of the global aircraft fleet, revealed that the airplane carries a United States registration mark: N989BC.
Besides the foreign registration, the aircraft has a valid Serial Number 5021 with Canada Air Limited as manufacturer and a certificate issue date indicating May 02, 2026.
The Model CL-600-2B16 Expiration Date is February 28, 2033 as a fixed wing multi-engine turbo fan.
Data from planespotters.com indicate that the airplane was manufactured in 1988.
Details on the aircraft’s operations in Nigeria remains sketchy.
While the regulator has not identified the operator, it says the permit for non-commercial flight has been suspended.
Nigeria’s safety investigation bureau has been notified and is participating in the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Dunamis International Gospel Centre and its Senior Pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche, have officially denied owning or having any operational connection to the private aircraft involved in the controversial emergency landing on a road in Ogwashi-Uku, near Asaba, Delta State.
Initial reports from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suggested the aircraft was linked to the church. However, the church categorically rejected these claims, stating it does not own any private jet or aircraft.
The private aircraft executed a missed approach at the Asaba Airport and subsequently made an emergency landing on an unfinished, concrete roadway.
The plane departed the site without required regulatory approval and was grounded by the NCAA immediately upon its return to Lagos.
The 70-year-old Pakistani pilot was arrested and detained by authorities, as his age reportedly violates the maximum flight age limit for operating aircraft in Nigeria. (The Nation)
