Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II
The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to remain firm in maintaining peace and order in the state.
The Emir made the remarks on Friday during the traditional Sallah homage at the Government House in Kano.
Sanusi said the state government should not allow any individual or group to undermine constituted authority or disrupt public peace, stressing the importance of stability and responsible leadership.
“If anybody dares your government, show him the power of authority. We cannot continue to tolerate people trying to undermine the government and create confusion in Kano,” the Emir said.
He added that Islamic teachings support the protection of lawful authority and the promotion of peace in society.
“In the Qur’an, leaders are instructed to stand for their people, and you have been doing that for Kano citizens. The same teachings also say that anyone trying to destabilise the government should be stopped,” he stated.
The Emir encouraged Governor Yusuf to continue demonstrating leadership and ensuring effective governance across the state.
“If citizens pursue peace, that is welcome, but anyone acting against the government should be decisively dealt with,” he added.
Sanusi also pledged support for the administration, saying the success of the government would benefit the people of Kano.
“I am one person who can openly tell you to be firm with those ready for conflict. If it is a fight for the peace and stability of Kano, we are with you completely. Your success is our success because we belong to the same family,” he said.
The Emir commended the Yusuf administration for its efforts in agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, and other sectors over the past two years, noting that residents could see the impact of the projects.
“What the government has done in farming, construction, health and other areas is speaking for itself. If there are failures, we will say so, but I am proud to be associated with this government because we are listening to what citizens are saying,” Sanusi said.
He also called on the Federal Government to support major development initiatives in Kano, including the proposed light rail project.
According to him, members of the business community had appealed to the Federal Government to assist in the successful implementation of the projects. (Nigerian Tribune)
