The Ogun State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime across the state with the arrest of a father and son alongside three other suspects, as operatives recovered four firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at N180,000.
The arrests and recoveries followed a series of intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives attached to the Afon, Ilisan Remo and Ode Remo Divisions.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operations led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns, one live cartridge, and the stolen mobile phone.
Babaseyi disclosed that operatives of the Afon Division arrested a father and his son, identified as Fatai Adegbola and Waliu Adegbola, 23, following a report of theft received on May 22, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m.
He said the younger Adegbola was accused of stealing a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives swiftly tracked and recovered the stolen phone. Further discreet investigation led to a search of the suspects’ residence conducted pursuant to a duly obtained warrant, during which a locally made pistol and a Dane gun were recovered, allegedly concealed within the premises,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson added that both suspects remained in custody while investigations continued to determine the extent of their involvement and possible accomplices.
In a separate operation, operatives attached to Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.
“The item was discovered abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team. The exhibit has been deposited in the division’s armoury for safe custody while an investigation is ongoing to trace its origin and ownership,” Babaseyi stated.
Similarly, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested one Inioluwa Adesanya, 25, over the alleged theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode

Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s residence under the guise of being a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work before stealing the firearm.
Babaseyi said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and allegedly admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity.
“During investigation, the suspect confessed to the offence and admitted affiliation with the Aye confraternity, further stating that the weapon was modified for concealment purposes,” he said.
The recovered dane gun has since been secured as an exhibit, while the suspect is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The command noted that all the cases had been transferred to the SCID for discreet investigation.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations against violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
Ojajuni also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through the command’s emergency lines.
