A coalition of civil society organisations has called on the governments of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Delta, Osun and Rivers States to immediately publish their first quarter (Q1) 2026 budget implementation reports, amid concerns over delays in fiscal transparency and public accountability.
The coalition said the continued non-release of the reports, as of May 18, 2026, raises serious questions about openness in governance and denies citizens access to key information on how public funds are being managed.
Budget implementation reports are key governance documents used to assess how governments generate revenue, allocate resources, and execute capital and recurrent expenditures across ministries, departments and agencies.
In a statement issued on behalf of the coalition, and signed by Uadamen Ilevbaoje, Founder of MonitNG, it warned that the delay in publishing the reports is undermining public trust and weakening accountability mechanisms across the affected states. (The Nation)
