A 26-year-old grandson has allegedly stabbed his 70-year-old grandfather to death.
The suspect has been arrested by operatives of Bauchi State Police Command, following the culpable homicide that occurred in Sabon Kariya Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to a report received by the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ganjuwa, on 17th May 2026 at about 1700 hours, a 58-year-old man, resident of Sabon Kariya Village, reported that earlier that day at approximately 1630 hours, one Bashar Aliyu, aged 26, allegedly used a knife to stab his grandfather, Ibrahim Maisaje, 70 years, in the victim’s room.
Police operatives immediately visited the scene of the incident and evacuated the corpse to the General Hospital, Kafin Madaki, where a medical doctor on duty certified the victim dead.
Following the report, the suspect was promptly arrested while preliminary investigation was conducted.
No exhibit was recovered at the scene while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act and assured the public that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.
He further urged community members to promote peaceful conflict resolution and to report suspicious activities promptly to prevent such tragedies, as contained in a crime bulletin made available to journalists on Friday by the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib. (Nigerian Tribune)
