Edo State Police Command
Edo State Police Command said its operatives have rescued two kidnapped victims at separate locations in the state.
It said the operation was conducted in collaboration with local security outfits.
One of the victims, Mrs. Vivian George, aged 57, was rescued during a bush combing operation at Igbanke, Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
She was abducted alongside her son, Chinedu, when going to their farm at Ottah Community in Igbanke, but her son managed to escape.
Spokesman for Edo Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, in a statement, said the second victim, Jemila Ibrahim, was rescued around Okpege River Road, Iyuku Community in Jattu, Estako West local government area.
Ikoedem said security operatives had a shoot-out with the kidnappers at Igbanke but that the kidnappers abandoned theit victim and fled witb gunshot wounds.
She said the five suspectsd kidnappers who abducted Jemila Ibrahim were arrested
Names of the suspects were given as Nura Saminu, Shaibu Isah, Suraj Sabitu,
Yakubu Sagiru and Oseni Abdullahi.
Ikoedem said the victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
