The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), a socio-cultural organisation has urged Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, to set up a judicial panel of enquiry to investigate the alleged invasion and killings in Eziobodo and surrounding communities in Owerri West Local Government Area.

The Chairman of NUF, Chief Augustine Chukwudum, made the call while speaking with newsmen in Enugu.

The socio-political group demanded that perpetrators of the violence be brought to book.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, some gunmen invaded and shot residents in Eziobodo and surrounding communities, which is host to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, in Owerri West Local Government Area.

"The attack brought fear to the entire residents of the state. Authorities and communities in Imo must not handle this matter with kid gloves.

"NUF calls on all communities in South-East to have a robust vigilante group to prevent criminals from operating in the communities,” he said.

The NUF also called on the Federal Government to wade into the matter. (NAN)
