Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has revealed how he wished for death at age 20 during one of the most severe sickle cell crises he had experienced.

In an interview with media personality Angela Yee, Gold recalled that the episode involved intense pain that left him feeling overwhelmed.

He stated that the situation became so serious his mother, who usually discouraged him from expressing such thoughts, did not intervene that night.

Gold said he was grateful to have survived and continued to manage the condition.

“At 20, I had the craziest crisis of my life. I told God to cake my life. And my mom couldn’t even rebuke me. Normally, she would but that night, it got to a point where it felt like the only thing that makes sense should just happen,” he recalled. (The Nation)
