Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon
Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has shared his views on gender roles, marriage dynamics, and women as primary providers during a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast.
During the discussion, the actor said he would be open to becoming a househusband if his wife earned more than him.
“| pray, God, please let my wife just hit one million, $10 million per annum. If you see me act… I’II be a househusband,” he said.
When asked if he would truly be comfortable with that arrangement, he responded, “There’s money. What are you doing again?”
He explained that some men find it difficult to adjust when women are the main earners, noting that this can lead to tension in relationships.
“I find that a lot of men are not comfortable with that dynamic. And so, they’re already hypersensitive. Any small thing ‘Is it because you did this? Is it because of that?’”
Deyemi said his main concern is contributing meaningfully to his family, rather than focusing on traditional roles.
“My only prayer is that as a human being, no gender, no male or female, I should be valuable to my family.”
Speaking on gender equality, he added that men and women bring different strengths to relationships.
“I believe that different genders have different strengths. I don’t believe those strengths are equal,” he added. (Nigerian Tribune)
