A United States Congressman, Barry Moore, has introduced a bill that would require immigrants entering the country as religious workers to formally renounce Sharia law and swear allegiance to the US Constitution.

Moore announced the proposed legislation, which he titled the “CRUSADE Act,” in an X post on Wednesday.

Sharia law, derived from Islamic religious principles, is practised in varying forms across several Muslim-majority countries and communities worldwide.

Moore framed the bill as a safeguard against religious doctrines he considers incompatible with American constitutional values.

“Sharia law justifies the persecution of religious minorities, restrictions on women, and the elevation of religious law above all.

“This is why I introduced the CRUSADE Act,” Moore said. (Nigerian Tribune)
