The Kano Judiciary has clarified reports suggesting that Murtala Sule Garo, a contender for Deputy Governor in the state, is facing a fresh corruption case, confirming instead that the allegations stem from an earlier matter.
The Director of Public Enlightenment for the Kano Judiciary Service Commission (JSC), Barrister Baba Jibo, emphasised that the supposed case of fraud, which circulated widely in online media, actually dates back to 2025 and is not new.
A High Court sitting at Miller Road, under Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, dismissed the case numbered K/133C/2024, which accused Garo and five others of bribery and corruption.
The court agreed with Garo’s legal team that proper investigative procedures were followed before the charges were filed.
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) had originally filed the case against Murtala Sule Garo, Mohd Sule Garo, Mustaha Sule Garo, Isah Musa Kera, MJ Multipurpose Services Ltd, and A.U. Future Investment Ltd.
Barrister Jibo noted that online reports had misrepresented the timing of the case, prompting the JSC to clarify that it was an old matter that had been resolved long ago. (TRIBUNE)
