By BONIFACE AKARAH
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to sustain the values of discipline, sacrifice and compassion imbibed during Ramadan as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Yilwatda congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the period as a time of deep reflection and spiritual renewal.
“Ramadan is not merely a period of abstinence, but a sacred journey of the soul… a time of reflection, sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and renewed devotion to Almighty Allah,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to carry forward the lessons of the holy month by embracing unity, showing kindness to one another and upholding justice in their daily lives.
“At a time when the nation continues to navigate complex challenges, the spirit of sacrifice and collective responsibility imbibed during Ramadan remains more relevant than ever,” Yilwatda said.
The APC chairman also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as steadfast leadership, noting that the administration was taking steps to reposition the country for economic stability and national cohesion.
“We must continue to support the President in his quest to build a stronger and more prosperous country,” he added.
He further urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to offer prayers for the country and its leadership.
“I urge all Nigerians to use this auspicious occasion to offer sincere prayers for our nation and its leadership,” Yilwatda said.
“May Almighty Allah grant the President wisdom, strength and good health, and guide all those entrusted with leadership responsibilities,” he stated.
“We also pray for our armed forces and security agencies, that they may be granted courage and success in safeguarding the country,” he added.
Prof. Yilwatda reaffirmed the commitment of the ruling party to good governance, inclusiveness and national development.
“The All Progressives Congress remains committed to good governance, inclusiveness and national development,” he said.
“We will continue to support policies and programmes that uplift lives and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic fabric,” the APC chairman added.
He also prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the fasting, prayers and acts of charity of Muslim faithful, wishing them peace, joy and abundant blessings.
