The Police Command in Lagos State has apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, popularly known as “Super M”, during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
She said the suspect was apprehended on March 5 at about 10.00 p.m. by operatives of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team attached to the Mushin Police Division.
“The patrol team, led by the Divisional Police Officer, was conducting routine surveillance along LUTH Road in the Mushin area when they accosted the suspect, who appeared suspicious while carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.
“A search conducted on the bag led to the recovery of a locally made pistol.
“Other items found in his possession included a black leather purse, charms and three pairs of slippers.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect may have been involved in criminal activities within the area and was responsible for disturbances in the community,” Adebisi said.
She said the suspect was in police custody while investigations continued.
The image maker said efforts were underway to apprehend other members of the gang.
The spokesperson said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing and the safety of all residents of the state.
Adebisi urged members of the public to continue to support the police with credible and timely information through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929. (NAN)
