Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested fourstudents of Umukiri Foundation Secondary School, Oshegbe,in Ezza North Local Government Area of the stateovercult related activities in the area.
Independent gathered that the suspects were members of Aiye confraternity who specialised in raiding students’ hostels in the area.
DSP George Okafor, the commands Public Relations Officer, while confirming the incidentto our correspondentin Abakaliki, said thatthe suspects,Ebile Emmanuel Chijioke (20),Nnnabuchi Chinonso(19),Nwozaku Kosarachi (19) and Friday Aligwo (19), were arrested after they allegedly attacked one ChiziteremEgbee and disposed him of his belongs including a wallet containing7,500 naira meant for his school fees.
According to Mr. Okafor, the incident started when Chiziterem returned from Market and met the suspects at his hostel.
He said, “When the victim sought to know whom they were, they descended on him, beat him mercilessly and made away with some of his belongings including a wallet containing 7,500 meant for his school fees.
“The suspects after perpetuating the evil act revealed themselves as cultists to their victim and threatened to kill him on their next visit.”
Mr. Okafor said that investigation into the matter was still ongoing and that the press would be properly briefed as soon as investigation is concluded. (Independent)
