Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Monday announced the lifting of suspension earlier placed on seven monarchs in the state.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), George Eche, the monarchs were enjoined to be responsive to Okorocha’s administration.
The monarchs include Ben Nwaneri (Owubinubi, Ikeduru), Clifford Amadi (Amawuihe, Mbaitooi), V.O. Amaefule (Oboroamuri, Isu), A. E. A. Duruburuo (Okwudor) and D. O. Izim (Umunkwo, Isiala Mbano). Others are Innocent C. Ejiofor (Amandugba, Is and Chinedu Osuebi (Azaraobiato, Mbaitoli).
The statement said they are to be reintegrated into the state’s traditional institution council, adding that that suspension lifting takes effect from November 1, 2016, adding that it was an eloquent testimony of large heart the governor has on the monarchs in the state.
By the action, Okorocha directed that they enjoy the privileges of office. He charged them to uphold the culture of the people in the state. (The Guardian)
