Queue in a filling station as fuel price hits N1,080 in Illorin
Fuel queues resurfaced on Friday afternoon in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, and other parts of the state as pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petro rises to N1,080 per litre.
Findings showed that many petrol stations did not open for business on Friday, contributing to the queues seen across the city.
However, by Saturday, stations that had fuel in stock increased pump prices by an average of about N100 compared with the previous prices of between N930 and N935 per litre.
The current prices now range between N1,020 and N1,080 per litre at most filling stations in the state.
Tribune Online gathered that Bovas filling station sold petrol at N1,050 per litre, while Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) stations sold at N1,051 per litre. Some private filling stations were seen dispensing fuel at as high as N1,080 per litre.
Speaking on the development, a filling station manager in Ilorin, Oladunjoye Abdul Malik, said the price increase was influenced by global oil price fluctuations linked to the ongoing Iran–US crisis.
Abdul Malik, however, clarified that the situation should not be interpreted as fuel scarcity.
According to him, the development is largely a reflection of global market conditions affecting the petroleum sector.
He assured motorists that fuel remains available in the market despite the temporary queues witnessed in some parts of the state.(Nigerian Tribune)
